In this illuminating program, we celebrate Ludwig van Beethoven as the heir to Franz Joseph Haydn. Having studied with Haydn in Vienna, Beethoven absorbed the elegance and structural clarity of the Classical style, then transformed it with his own bold voice. Across a vibrant tapestry of Beethoven’s orchestral masterpieces, we trace Haydn’s influence in his craft while hearing the dramatic power and expressive depth that propelled the symphony into a new era.

A fresh evolution of our much-loved Symphony in 60, the Composer Sessions Series responds directly to what our patrons have been asking for: deeper insight, richer context and a more personal connection to the music. Each concert focuses on a single composer and pairs an engaging, 30-minute conductor-led conversation with a one-hour performance—no intermission—enhanced by live camera views that bring you closer to the musicians and the moment. Thoughtful and immersive, Composer Sessions offers a meaningful way to listen, learn and connect.
