The Jacksonville Symphony is proud to announce our inaugural Jazz Concert! Get an exclusive sneak peek at next season's new Jazz Series by attending this one-of-a-kind performance.
Join us for an afternoon of riveting rhythms as Jacoby Symphony Hall is transformed into an intimate jazz club teeming with the wide variety of colors, sounds and styles that characterize the sheer magnitude of Jazz as a genre. Arrive early to the concert and enjoy cocktails and mingle with other jazz lovers before the performance.
Curated by the Symphony’s Principal Tubist James Jenkins, this program spotlights hits from the biggest big bands to iconic composers like Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Thad Jones and Woody Herman. With Latin jazz flavors, intimate group performances and even references to classical pieces like Herman’s take on Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, this concert features very limited, general admission seating. Secure your tickets while you can!
This program runs approximately 1 hour 45 minutes with one 20-minute intermission. Selections will be announced from the stage.
