Mozart’s final symphony, the great “Jupiter,” offers a window into the further brilliance the world could have witnessed had the composer not died so young. The coda of the final movement percolates with astounding brilliance and otherworldly joy. Courtney Lewis and the Symphony open the program with The Confession of Isobel Gowdie, a dramatic Requiem for a victim of the 17th-century Scottish witch trials. The work’s premiere launched Sir James MacMillan’s career and received “an ovation the like of which had rarely been seen at a British premiere...”
Concerts begin at 7:30 PM. Performances are expected to last between 60 and 75 minutes and there will be no intermission. Masks must be worn at all times.
